Toji Motion Not Working: Fixes for Crashes, Lag and Black Previews
Toji Motion fails in a few repeatable ways: a conflicting build, a starved preview, a codec the phone cannot decode. Work these fixes in order before reinstalling.

CUE SHEET On this page
Work in Order, Not at Random
Most broken installs are one of four faults wearing different clothes. The Toji Motion for Android page lists the current build and its Android requirement, which is the first check: a phone below the requirement or a build mixed with an older install explains more failures than any setting does. Start there, then take the fixes below in order, testing after each one.
Write down what changed when the fault appeared. A new build, a new phone, a new source clip: the answer usually sits inside that one change, and reinstalling at random erases the evidence.
Crashes and App Not Installed
An install that refuses or an app that closes on launch usually means a conflicting older build or too little free storage. Remove the old build completely, restart the phone, and install again with generous free space. If crashes arrive only inside one project, suspect the project, not the app: duplicate it, delete the newest effect layer, and open the copy. The performance habits in the lag fixes guide prevent most crash-prone projects from being built in the first place.
Permissions matter too. An editor denied storage access can fail in ways that look like crashes, so confirm the app can read and write media before deeper surgery.
Black Previews and Broken Clips
A black preview with a healthy timeline is almost always the source clip: a codec or frame rate the phone cannot decode for preview. Re-encode the clip to a standard MP4 with a common codec and import it again. Nine times out of ten the picture returns, because the editor was never broken, only fed a file it could not show. The export side has its own version of this fault, covered in the export settings guide.
If every clip previews black, clear the app cache from Android settings and reopen the project. A corrupt preview cache survives reinstalls less often than it survives restarts, so try the cheap steps first.
When Nothing Works
Back up your projects and presets, remove the app, restart, and install the current build clean. A clean install on a restarted phone settles faults that no setting reaches. Protect that backup habit with the routine in the update guide, and get the current build from the download page on this site.
Quick Answers
Why does Toji Motion say app not installed?
Usually a conflicting older build or too little free storage. Remove the old build, restart, and install again with space to spare.
Why is my preview black?
The source clip likely uses a codec the phone cannot preview. Re-encode it to a standard MP4 and import it again.
Should I reinstall first?
No. Reinstalling erases the evidence. Check the build, the storage, the permissions and the source clip first, in that order.
