How We Review: Real Edits on Real Phones

Every app covered on this site is tested on our own phones before a download page recommends it. For a motion editor, a menu tour proves nothing, so the test is a real edit: a layered project with keyframed text, stacked effects, a preset import, and a full export, built start to finish inside the app.

The test phones

The current bench is a Galaxy A55 on Android 15, a Pixel 8 on Android 16, a Redmi Note 13 Pro on Android 14, an Infinix Note 40 Pro on Android 14, and a Galaxy A13 on Android 12. The oldest phone matters most: it is where heavy timelines and long exports tell the truth about a build.

The checks, in order

First, the file: size and build details are compared with the publisher's own listing, and the file is scanned before it is opened. Second, the install: permissions are read line by line, and anything an editor has no use for is flagged in the review. Third, the work: the test edit runs on at least two phones, including one mid-range device, and preview lag, crashes and export quality are recorded as found. Fourth, the update path: projects and presets are backed up and carried into the next build to see what survives.

What a score means here

Where an app has no public store rating, this site prints none. Silence is more honest than a borrowed number, and the written findings above are the review: what the editor did well, where it strained, and which phone it strained on.
