Toji Motion Lag: How to Keep Heavy Projects Smooth

Lag in Toji Motion is arithmetic: layers times effects times resolution. This guide cuts the cost of a project without cutting its look.

Why Projects Slow Down

Every layer multiplies the work of a preview: the phone composites each visible layer, with its effects, at every frame. A project that felt light at three layers can crawl at twelve, on the same phone, with nothing broken. The current build's rendering improvements, noted on the Toji Motion latest version page, raise the ceiling, but the arithmetic still rules.

The fix is rarely a setting. It is project hygiene: spend the phone's effort on the frames the audience actually sees.

Preview Habits That Help

Lower the preview resolution while you work and judge timing at that size, then check detail in short full-quality bursts. Hide layers you are not adjusting; a hidden layer costs nothing. Solo the section you are editing instead of playing the whole timeline to reach it. These habits, plus the fault order in the fixes guide, separate a slow project from a broken install.

Close other apps before long sessions. A phone splitting memory between a game, a browser and your timeline serves none of them well.

Structure Heavy Sections

Pre-render the heaviest stack. When four layers and three effects exist only to make one background move, export that section alone and re-import it as a single clip. The look survives; the cost collapses. Grouping finished sections this way is how long edits stay editable, and the export steps are the same as those in the export settings guide.

Keep source clips trimmed. A ten minute source under a four second edit still decodes from its full file in some paths, so cut sources to near their used range before importing.

Older Phones, Honest Limits

On an older phone, build lighter from the start: fewer simultaneous effects, lower project resolution, shorter sections. The settings collected in the old phone tips keep the editor usable without pretending the hardware is something it is not. Get the current build from the download page, and judge it with a small test project before committing to a long one.

Quick Answers

Why does Toji Motion lag only in big projects?

Preview cost multiplies with layers and effects. The same phone that handles three layers easily can crawl at twelve.

What is the fastest lag fix?

Lower the preview resolution and hide layers you are not editing. Both cost nothing and help immediately.

Does pre-rendering sections lose quality?

Export the section at full project quality and the loss is negligible, while the timeline becomes far lighter.
